The Diamond League produced fireworks in July 2026, headlined by a stunning world record on the streets of Monaco.
At the Herculis meeting on 10 July, Emmanuel Wanyonyi lit up the Stade Louis II by clocking 2:11.83 to set a new 1000m world record, one of the performances of the season. He was far from alone in impressing. Julien Alfred won the 200m in 21.51 to move to third on the all-time list, Masai Russell took the 100m hurdles in a meeting record of 12.20, and Nina Kennedy cleared 4.95m in the pole vault for a world lead and an Oceania record.
The Eugene stop on 4 July had already delivered its own drama. Melissa Jefferson-Wooden got the better of Sha'Carri Richardson in the women's 100m, while Nikki Hiltz produced an upset of Faith Kipyegon in the mile, signalling shifting form in two of the sport's marquee events.
The circuit now heads to London on 18 July, where a strong home contingent including Josh Kerr, Keely Hodgkinson, Dina Asher-Smith and Zharnel Hughes will look to thrill a sell-out crowd.
